The advent of the new technology in the wireless network environment has made the people more enthusiastic in using mobile devices. WI-Fi, one of the wireless standards, is becoming popular, particularly, in our homes, offices, railway stations, airports etc. The professional users want to use hand-held devices to access the information from the internet during traveling or walking. Web services, one of the technologies in computer sciences, are becoming the middleware standard in the future and make the people to gain access to the required information.
Sometimes this enthusiasm makes the people to use a particular web service application in their hand-held devices, which combines a number of web services to collect information and concludes some result. It can be difficult to use such type of web service application due to the limitations in hand-held devices. It can also degrade the quality of service in accessing the web services in the wireless environment.
We need to gain the quality of service for the users. We need to make the web services more accessible to gain the quality of service. We need to adopt the ways according to the needs to make the environment more efficient for the people.
We propose an implementation that makes the environment more efficient for the people. This implementation is a Web Service Agent for mobile devices to have access to the web service application that is running in the desktop computer to make the web services more accessible for the users. This Web Service Agent consists of two-program modules. The one runs on the PDA called Service Invoker, the other runs on the desktop computer, where the web service application is running, called Service Invoking Agent.
We have conclude that our implementation can enhance not only the quality of service to access the web services but also save the resources of mobile devices such as memory capacity and battery power.
무선 인터넷 환경에서의 기술 발전과 함께 모바일 장치의 사용은 크게 확산되고 있다. WI-Fi는 가정과 직정과 역과 공항 등에서 널리 이용되는 무선 표준이다. 무선 장치의 고급 사용자들은 여행이나 산보와 같은 일상 생활 속에서 인터넷에 접속하길 원한다. 웹 서비스는 이러한 요구를 충족시켜줄 미들웨어 표준 기술이다.
무선 장치의 사용자들은 웹 서비스 응용 프로그램들을 이용하여, 여러 웹 서비스 기능을 활용하여 정보를 수집하거나 의사 결정을 내리는데 도움을 얻길 원한다. 그러나, 이러한 웹 서비스 응용프로그램은 무선 장치의 기술적인 한계로 인하여 적절히 동작하지 못한다. 즉, 무선 환경에서 웹 서비스를 사용할 때, QoS가 적절히 제공되지 못한다.
무선 장치 사용자에게 QoS를 보장해 주기 위한 연구와 보다 효과적으로 QoS를 보장해 주는 환경을 제공하기 위한 연구가 필요하다.
이러한 요구를 충족시키고자, 본 연구에서는 사용자들의 편의성을 증대시키기 위한 환경을 구현하고 제시한다. 즉, 본 연구에서는 모바일 사용자가 데스크 탑에서 작동하는 웹 서비스 응용 프로그램을 보다 편리하게 접근할 수 있는 환경을 제시한다. 본 연구에서 제시하는 웹 서비스 에이전트는 두 가지 모듈로 구성된다. 하나는 PDA에서 동작하는 서비스 호출자 모듈이며, 다른 하나는 데스크 톱에서 동작하는 서비스 호출 에이젼트 모듈이다.
본 연구는 웹 서비스의 QoS를 향상시키며, 모바일 장치의 메모리와 베터리와 같은 자원을 절약할 수 있는 웹 서비스 에이전트를 제시한다.
