The five-coordinate salen-based mononuclear aluminum complexes(1a~3), $(^tBu)$ salenAlX, were synthesized to use blue luminescent and hole-blocking materials for OLED devices. The tuning of fluorescent property was attempted by introducing tBu groups to salen ligand. And thermal stability was also modified by introducing various ancillary ligands X. New types of dinulear aluminum complexes containing salen ligands, ${Salen(^tBu)AlOPh}-2C(CX-3)-2(4a~6)$, were synthesized. The synthesized dinuclear complexes emit deep blue light and have higher thermal stability than that of mononuclear complexes. It is expected that these complexes can serve as good candidates for blue emitting materials and hole-blocking materials.
