Frictional impulse noise due to thermomechanical deformations in TV sets is investigated to reduce the noise intensity and frequency. From the experimental data conducted previously, it is found that the mechanism of the noise generation is the stick-slip phenomenon originating from thermal deformations occurring with temperature change as power is on or off. Based on this observation, several guidelines for reduction of the noise are suggested and their effectiveness is verified through test. They prove to greatly reduce the noise frequency and noise level.
