This study focuses on the load-balancing strategy of virtual private network (VPN) servers, representative applications of E-Business, workflow management system's security, and knowledge and skill for information security professionals.
As the demand for the Virtual Private Network (VPN) increases, high speed VPN becomes more important. To achieve high speed, VPN servers should be adopted in a parallel manner using a load balancer. The load balancing issues for web servers have researched intensively. However, the work cannot be directly applied to the VPN because the services of the VPN are different from general web services. In this study, the load-balancing problem of parallel VPN configuration is formulated and solved in consideration of the characteristics of VPN services. Herein, four load-balancing strategies are suggested for VPNs. In computer simulations, the response-time performances of the proposed strategies are investigated as the measure of user-side perspective. Moreover, the load-uniformity performances are investigated as the measure of server-side perspective.
With the expansion of WFMS across the Internet, collaboration among enterprises can increase. The security problems of Intranet-based WFMS, which is operated on intranet are not critical, but the effectiveness of Internet-Based WFMSs is deeply influenced by security. In this study, we analyze security requirements for the Internet-Based WFMSs. Based on the security requirements, this paper suggests the security architecture and security mechanisms for the Internet-Based WFMSs. For the security architecture of Internet-Based WFMSs, this paper introduces the Login Agent, the Security Agent, and Task Agents. This paper presents the flexible security policy and security mechanisms based on micro-protocols. The security mechanisms provide authentication, secure communication, membership, and rekeying for Internet-Based WFMSs. The features of mechanisms are very flexible to use in the Internet.
The IT induslly, having recognized the importance of Information Security (IS), is in pressing need of IS Managers (ISMs) and IS System Developers (ISSDs). Many institutions are developing IS courses to meet this demand. For these programs to be successful their design should address the specific knowledge and skill required by IS professionals. In this study, this paper first identifies and ranks the items of knowledge and skill of IS professionals using a simplified Delphi technique. They, then through refined analysis, come up with two sets of 15 specific items of knowledge and skill, one each for ISMs and ISSDs.
이 연구는 가상사설망의 로드밸린싱, E-Business에서 많이 사용하는 워크플로우시스템의 보안과 정보보호전문가에게 필요한 지식과 기술에 관한 연구이다.
가상사설망 사용이 증가함에 따라, 초고속 가상사설망이 등장하게 되었다. 초고속 가상사설망의 효과적인 사용을 위해서는 초고속 가상사설망 서버를 로드밸런스를 이용하여 병렬형태로 사용해야 한다. 웹서버의 로드밸런싱과 관련된 연구는 많이 진행되어 왔지만, 이 연구 결과는 가상사설망에 직접 적용할 때에는 여러 문제점들이 있다. 가상사설망 서비스는 일반적인 웹서버 서비스 제공과는 다르다. 2장에서는 병렬 가상사설망 서버 구성을 위해 수리적 모형을 수립하고, 수리적 모형에 따라 가장 적합한 방식의 로
드밸런싱 전략을 탐색한다. 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 이용하여 제시된 4가지 전략의 성능을 사용자 측면과 서버 측면으로 분리하여 탐색한다.
워크플로우시스템이 인터넷으로 확장됨에 따라, 기업간의 협업이 증가되고 있다. 보안은 인터넷 기반 워크플로우시스템의 운영에 깊은 영향을 미친다. 3장에서는 인터넷 기반 워크플로우시스템의 보안요구사항을 분석한다. 3장은 보안요구사항을 기반으로 인터넷기반 워크플로우시스템의 보안 아키텍쳐와 메커니즘을 제시한다. 보안 아키텍쳐를 위해 Login Agent, Security Agent, Task Agents를 도입한다. 이 연구는 마이크로 프로토콜을 응용하여 식별 및 인증, 비밀 통신, 멤버십, 키 분배 등의 보안 메커니즘을 제시한다.
IT 산업이 발달함에 따라 보안의 중요성을 인식한 조직은 보안관리자와 보안시스템 개발자를 필요로 한다. 보안 관련 조직은 보안관리자와 보안시스템 개발자의 양성을 위해서 많은 정보보호관련 프로그램을 운영하고 있다.
이러한 프로그램이 성공하기 위해서는 정보보호교육 프로그램의 체계적인 설계가 필수적이다. 4장은 전문가 기법을 이용하여 정보보호전문가에 있어서 중요한 지식 및 기술을 식별하고, 중요도를 측정한다. 분석된 결과를 통하여 이 연구는 정보보호전문가에게 필요한 15개의 중요한 지식 및 기술을 제시한다.
