Wireless LAN based on IEEE 802.11b MAC protocol is widely used in the real world and it shows remarkable growth in the LAN market. But, there are some problems arising when the TCP protocols is used to provide Internet connectivity over wireless links. Due to the strong drive towards wireless services, these wireless problems have been studied in order to provide stable service over wireless links. Existing Wireless TCP researchers emphasize that degraded end-to-end performance over Wireless LAN is mostly due to mistaking wireless losses for congestion.
However, performance of the commercial Wireless LAN doesn`t seem to be bad. In this article, we meaures wireless LAN performance by way of experiment and analyze its behavior characteristics. Also, we investigate some issues such as seamless service, that have nat been previously analyzed. To verify this characteristic, experiments with moving host were performed, and then we can find the effect of signal fading and interference on the performance of Wireless LAN.
