GPS location information is very important for various reasons in battle fields. However, transferring these GPS messages is very restricted in a voice prioritized hierarchical ad hoc network. This study is concerned with investigating GPS information transmission schemes in an integrated voice/data wireless mobile ad hoc network consisting of 13 intranets and 31 mobile nodes. Four GPS information transmission scenarios are proposed based on MIL-STD-188-220C protocol and their performance is evaluated in terms of delay and successful delivery probability, using an OPNET simulation tool.
