In this thesis, precoder for Space-time block code, which has less complexity in order to obtain full-rate full-diversity for four transmit antennas, is proposed. Conventional space-time block code designs cannot achieve full diversity and full rate simultaneously, except in the two transmit antenna case. The precoder schemes for STBC was proposed for full-rate and full diversity in MIMO systems employing more than two transmitter antennas. However, since it transmits linearly combined information data, the proposed scheme requires ML detection which is accompanied with much hardware complexity. Therefore in this work, we present a new precoder from a special space-time block code. The proposed scheme requires less computational load than conventional precoder. The coding advantage of the proposed precoder for a codeword pair corresponding to any distinct input pair is shown to be equal to that of conventional precoder. Also, simulated experiments show that the SER’s performance of the proposed new STBC precoder is comparable to that of the conventional one.
