This thesis describes the research on the development of small scale sorption compressor. Experimental investigation for several adsorbent - refrigerant pairs was performed, and small scale sorption compressor was fabricated and tested.
First, each adsorbent - refrigerant pair was tested in a closed vessel to make adsorption equilibrium correlation which was based on adsorption equilibrium theory. Then, the optimal pair was determined as the crushed silica gel water pair.
Second, a small scale sorption compressor was designed and fabricated. The focus of the design was to reduce thermal characteristic length to minimize non-uniformity of temperature in the adsorber. According to the experimental result of adsorber test, it is concluded that the fabricated compressor can be used for micro sorption refrigerator.
