Present methods of water quality management are mainly focused on restriction of development and discharge in water resources protection area and that of point sources as factories. Thus, inhabitants' right to exercise property in water resources protection area is restricted, and the water quality is being deteriorated as unplanned developments under restriction is prevailing.
In this study, the necessity of integrated catchment water quality management ,which can take into account the state of catchment intergratively, is suggested and sustainable development indicators are used.
First, sustainable development indicators which are appropriate for domestic catchment situation are developed, and are re-classified for catchment water quality management. And then, the indicators are grouped and integrated into upper indicators by using statistical analysis method as a important procedure in application to catchment water quality management. Also, the application method of indicators for catchment water quality management, which is based on objectifying and synthesization of indicators, is introduced.
