There have been a lot of positive forecasts by IT research institutes and telecommunication companies on Mobile Business during the past few years. However, so far mostly the focus was on its technical aspects, not on its business aspects. This thesis begins here, the efforts to see Mobile Business in business context. First, based on the various prior categorization methods suggested by many organizations already and value chain theory, The New Mobile Business Taxonomy was suggested and applied to 77 different Mobile Business companies. Second, based on the Mobile Business Taxonomy, this thesis introduced three different Alliance Models. The Mobile Business Taxonomy will give the big picture of current domestic Mobile Business Industry, and The Alliance Models will give the practical implications to the CEOs of Mobile Business start-ups who are considering Alliance Models to grow their companies.
Even though I tried to collect as many companies as possible, the reality that most Mobile Business companies were within two years of doing business gave me the difficulty to collect enough company cases. However, to come up with the implications, I applied the three Alliance Models into six different case studies. Furthermore, to refine the three Alliance Models, there should be more studies to be continued. There should be more company case studies to prove the usefulness of the model.
