The unprecedented explosion of digital and Internet technologies bring in rapid value drivers and industry settings. In such an unpredictable world, competition is primarily in searching and/or creating right products (or services) and business models. It is not the matter of choice but that of survival for the traditional company to drive e-Business project and e-transformation. It is described as the process required to change the enterprise and its value process for better effectiveness and efficiency in value creations.
This thesis discusses the requirements that should be considered for successful transformation. In establishing and implementing an effective e-transformation strategy, it is important to understand the full spectrum of e-Business and the factors that affect business strategies and value creation processes. The first step toward e-Enterprise is to recognize the opportunities in value creation based on its strategic, organizational and technological change.
The case study on public corporation in water resources industry proved that the corporation still does not realize the opportunity and urgency of IT-enabled management along with the rapid change of managerial environment. The Water Resources industry should be categorized into the information industry rather than the construction in an Internet era. By introducing e-Transformation, the public corporation can enhance its competitive advantage over the competitor through the synergy effect from its service businesses, like training, technical consulting and overseas business project. Also the studied corporation can improved brand value that comes from economies of scale based on information/knowledge assets with the established network over the whole nation.
