This paper suggests the process of performance measurement system development for B2B eMarketplace using BSC (Balanced Scorecard). As the first step, main features and factors affecting performance of e-Business company and especially of B2B eMarketplaces were derived based on the literatures.
For the 2nd step, the normative performance measurement model for B2B eMarketplace was suggested. Especially, the research range that the model covers is restricted to the neutral and systematic sourcing B2B eMarketplace. And, the performance measurement model was based on BSC, for the BSC is very powerful and sound tool among all the available performance measurement systems. Also, the model was based on the AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) to make the model more structured, and to draw weights of performance measures from experts. In order to validate the usefulness of the suggested model, this study was co-worked with specialists who are involved in real Korean 82B eMarketplaces. They include a venture capitalist who work at the top ranked venture capitals in Korea, and now engaged in the management of B2B eMarketplace, and a consultant who have been engaged in the B2B eMarketplaces. By their assistances, this study could find another important evaluating factors and refine and deepen the hierarchical model. After the completion of performance measurement model for B2B eMarketplaces, the expert group consisted of B2B eMarketplace experts decided weights of performance indicators through the designed questionnaires for the model. By using geometric mean of their results, the weight for each measure was calculated.
The real evaluation case studies for the two Korean B2B eMarketplaces were studied as the last step of this thesis to apply the developed evaluation model with some adjustments. The results of the case study were very satisfactory that the suggested B2B eMarketplace performance measurement system is useful and applicable to the real case.
