In this paper, two kinds of new organic electroluminescent(EL) maerials are reported. Zr complex containing o-carboranyl ligand system (2) was synthesized from pentamethylcyclopetadienyl zrconium trichloride $(Cp^*ZrCl_3)$ and $CpHCMe_2CB_{10}H_{10}CH(1)$. Zr complex(2) shows green color photoluminescence(PL) with maximum wavelength, 537nm when excited by UV-vis light of 370nm. EL device was constructed using poly(N-vinycarbazole) (PVK) doped by Zr complex(2) with spin-coating technique. EL spectrum shows that metal complexes containing carborane have potential as organic EL materials A new diborate compound containing μ-oxo bridge(6) was synthesized. This compound absorbed UV-vis light at 318nm and emitted greenish blue light at 495nm.
EL devices were also constructed about diborate compound with the same method of Zr complex(2)′s. EL of PVK doped by 6 was greenish blue. It is expected that this diborate compound can be a good candidate as a blue-emitting material.
