According to rapid development of information technologies and industries, market environment including design environment has been getting uncertain. To solve this problem many companies begin to focus on designers insight into users. This designers capability can create new market with finding and embodying changing users needs. This study focuses on information, especially customer needs information and new product concept development process through studying major success factors for new product development. Customer needs information should be more experience-focused, managed effectively and updated continuously than it has been.
So this thesis suggests the concept of NIM, needs information management, which has three modules of needs finding, needs information and needs information managing. With understanding using behaviors through continuous observation at NIM and customer information at CRM, user needs are to be found out and utilized in development process and updated by user after development.
Also new collaborative development process based on the concept of NIM is suggested through case analysis of customer needs information management and new product concept development processes at companies.
The conceptual model of customer needs information system is proposed to solve Problems revealed at company analysis and realized with software.
