The environment surrounding telecommunications industry today is changing rapidly, making it introduce the knowledge management which is being observed as a new strategic resource to be competitively advantageous.
Not like before, the uncertainty, resulting from the rapid development or introduction of new technology, M&A and strategic alliance is increasing. Thus, the last resort for companies to cope with this confrontation will be through human knowledge in the end.
But, for the methodological point of view, the reality is not so simple for organizations to bring in the knowledge management. One of the problems can be knowledge itself, like which knowledge should be managed and how can we identify such knowledge.
To address those problems, this thesis shows an alternative for the telecommunications companies, which are under the direct impact of hyper-competition, by identifying core knowledge through modeled methodology using the case of Korea Telecom. The methodology focuses on vision, strategies, performance-indices and processes of an organization to identify its core knowledge.
