A new standard for a new world of networking, MPLS is an emerging IETF standard based on Cisco tag switching. MPLS is an innovative approach that uses a label-based forwarding paradigm. MPLS makes it possible to apply QoS across very large routed or switched networks because service providers can designate sets of labels that have special meanings, such as services class.
This thesis discusses the strategy for enhancing Kornet Network through introducing MPLS and strategic implementation.
Through introducing MPLS, Kornet Network will have the ability of QoS and traffic engineering. Also it is easy to develop new services, for example, VPN, VOD, VoIP.
In order to keep competitive advantage, Korea Telecom has to focus on internet business which has the core competence, not entire business area.
