During the last decade the Biotech industry became the most promising and fastest grow industry in the world. The most of Korean Biotech ventures are still on the start-up stage. But the most of economic forecasters predict Biotech industry will be one of the most dominant and promising area of the Korean venture industry in the near future at 21 century.
This thesis proposed that the present state and characteristics of US and Korean Biotech industry, the comparative analysis between two countries, and finally to suggest the development strategy for biotech venture business in Korea, through the case studies. The case companies in US are Amgen, Biogen, Chiron and Genentech, the most successful Biotech venture companies in the world. Actually, it was very difficult to find successful Biotech venture in Korea, because of the Biotech industry in Korea has nearly short history. Therefore, relatively long history and high performance firms are selected for case company, such as Bioneer, Viromed, C-tri and Scigenic.
At the result, this thesis suggested development strategy for Korean Biotech ventures on the viewpoint of internal and external environment of biotech venture firms.
