Distibuted Virtual Environemnt (DVE) is the computer generated virtual environment which is shared by multiple participants who are geographically dispersed. The participants can interact and communicate with each other in DVE. Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) is the best-known standard for DVE. DIS is designed for a very specific application domain: mulitary simulations.
For solving the problem of scaling very large distibuted simulations, Macedonia proposed to partition the virtual environment into a set of workable, small scale environments with network multicast groups. This concept makes it possible to filter the messages, but it doesn`t support each participant`s interest well.
We propose a communication method that supplments the partitioning with each particiant`s area of interest. Our method can allow the participants to transmit more accurate state informations efficiently.
