In this thesis, the effect, of measurement on quantum-classical correspondence is investigated for a delta-kicked rotor. Even though this system is one of the simplest Hamiltonian systems, it can exhibit chaotic dynamics well. Of central importance in this study is the phenomenon of dynamical localization, i.e. quantum suppresion of classical chaotic diffusion, caused by quantum coherence and interference. Due to dynamical localization the quantum and classical mo mentum distributions of the delta-kicked rotor can deviate siginificantly from each other, especially if the kick is strong enough to cause chaos in the classical dynamical behavior of the delta-kicked rotor. In anticipation that the effect of dynamical localization may be suppressed by quantum measurements on the system, a delta-kicked rotor is subject to a momentum measurement after each kick and the time evolution of momentum distribution and its dispersion is calculated. It is shown that the quantum momentum distribution so obtained exhibits a stronger degree of quantum-classical correspondence. It is found in particular the momentum distribution of a quantum delta-kicked rotor subject to a momentum measurment after each kick resembles closely the momentum distribution of a classical delta-kicked rotor with random phase.
