The purpose of this thesis is to evaluate design procedures of fluidized-bed incinerators for sewage-sludge application. The major design points are proposed by comparing and examining the effects of various design parameters which influence thermal and fluidizing conditions of incinerator.
The design parameters-water content of sludge, fluidizing air temperature, excess air ratio, capacity of incinerator, exit temperature, fluidizing ratio etc.- should be decided concurrently as they influence each other.
The design procedure of incineration process for sewage-sludge is discussed. Especially, drying process of sludge is important because its water content has an effect on thermal conditions of incinerator seriously. So, the evaluation of steam generation by boiler and consumption in dryer is conducted for three design cases of sludge quality-good, standard, bad.
The effects of secondary air jet injection on pollutant control is studied by CFD analysis. The flow field and gas mixing in the freeboard region are evaluated. It is suggested that momentum flux ratio and swirl number are major design parameters of secondary air jet injection.
