In this study the tool path post-processor for CNC high speed machining was developed to increase the productivity and quality of plastic injection mold.
At rough cutting, a mechanical cutting force is so important that feedrates are optimized by geometrical and mechanical simulation. Constant MRR(material removal rate) and chip depth control model are commonly applied to the optimization of feedrates. This paper applies the element cutting force model to the optimization of feedrates and proposes the element cutting force pre-processing model to reduce calculation time.
A surface finish and precision is important at finish cutting. The model that feedrate is adjusted according to the curvature of CL(cutter location) surface to reduce tool deflection and chatter at corner machining is proposed. And linear tool paths are changed to NURBS tool paths that are good for high speed and precision machining.
