In this thesis, we proposed and implemented a new metaphor for improving immersion in virtual environment. Developed system is configured to improve realistic feeling in interacting with cyber character.
The cage metaphor solved the problems such as gaps between real and virtual environment, and high costs in constructing the system, which previous works had, by using real cage structure. Cage structure plays an important role as a bridge between virtual environment and real world.
Cyber characters were implemented for reactive interaction, which is lack in virtual environment system. Cyber characters behave as to their own perception and reasoning. Also we explained cyber character animation system and behavior control method. In this system, we provide gesture and voice recognition interface for cyber character to perceive external world.
This system was implemented for realistic virtual environment that renders us interaction with cyber character.
