We have a lot of articles, papers and books dedicated to the concepts of Knowledge and Knowledge Management. There are many people who are keenly eager to exploit the value from Knowledge.
Before stepping in the areas of Knowledge Management, one should know the nature of Knowledge. There is strong relationship between the Procedural Knowledge and Declarative Knowledge. Procedural Knowledge shows you how to solve a given problem; it outlines instructions or procedures. Declarative Knowledge shows you the analytical and intuitive reasons behind Procedural Knowledge; it shows you how and why Procedural Knowledge is applicable and how it could solve the problem at hand.
Procedural Knowledge is very useful in serving specific, routine problems quickly. However, Procedural Knowledge needs to be updated to keep apace with the changing environments. Declarative Knowledge makes the updating of Procedural Knowledge possible and easy.
Based on the relationships between the two types of Knowledge: Procedural and Declarative, I propose Knowledge Partitioning Model as a conceptual guide of Knowledge Management. I validated all this through real case studies.
