Since the malfunction of network management applications could crash the network system at worst, they should be verified through a lot of tests. Therefore tools for testing network management applications have been developed.
In this thesis, we propose a test environment for OSI network management applications. The proposed test environment consists of the following tools that simplify the execution of test operation and shorten the test process: MIT Browser, MO Instance Editor, CMIS Request Composer, ASN.1 Value Editor, and Batch Tester. We also propose a managed object extension method which provides information transferred between managed objects and network resources. The proposed managed object extension enables the tests for errors in which attributes of managed objects do not correspond to the status of network resources. The proposed test environment has been implemented with OSIMIS-4.0 TMN platform.
