As the need for sharing product data over network grows, studies on visualization method of the standard CAD data over Internet have been continued. Previous studies have been limited to the visualization of a part model.
This thesis describes the visualization method of a STEP assembly model on the Internet with HTML, VRML, and JAVA. The Shape of the assembly or a part is visualized with VRML and the assembly structure is expressed with JAVA applet. VRML model and JAVA applet have been linked through EAI (External Authoring Interface). The link helps to understand the assembly structure.
The translation system has been implemented as a JAVA application. To realize the visualization environment suggested in this thesis, the system generates VRML files, a JAVA applet source file, and an HTML file. Engineers can share a STEP assembly model data on the web provided with the web browser and the VRML browser.
