In order to compete effectively in the world market, a company must have a network of competent suppliers. A supplier development program is designed to create and maintain such a network and to improve various supplier capabilities that are necessary for the buying organization to meet its increasing competitive challenges.
In recent years, a growing number of manufacturing firms in Korea have established supplier partnerships and supplier development programs to activate the 100PPM quality innovation movements. Many suppliers, however, are neglect the continuous improvements after acquiring the 100PPM certification.
This research provides a detailed case study of supplier development programs at the Samsung Electronics Company, and suggest guidelines to motivate supplier's continuous improvement based on the arguments for supplier development strategy both in theory and practice.
