Increased competition from non-bank financial services and the telecommunications industry, advent of new information technologies, erosion of product and geographic boundaries, and less restrictive governmental regulations have forced banks to expedite the adoption of electronic banking.
In this thesis we identify factors that affect the utilization of the PC banking for the purpose of meeting customer needs and enhancing business process efficiency. Empirical data analysis was performed for eight Korean banks. Two organizational factors; strategy and policy, organization and manpower, and five technological factors; ease of user interface, convenience of access, response time, service contents, security, have been tested based on the interview data with the managers who were in charge of PC banking. PC banking account holding rate and PC banking transaction rate were employed as the dependent variables representing the PC banking utilization of each bank.
In the course of data analysis a relatively significant relationship was found between the level of technological factors and PC banking transaction rate.
In addition, there seems to be a positive significant relationship between the level of service contents and PC banking account holding rate and between the level of ease of user interface and PC banking transaction rate. A positive significant relationship was also found between the level of response time and PC banking transaction rate. However, a significant relationship was not found between the level of organization factors and PC banking utilization.
