The IMT-2000 system is currently being standardized in the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and is the next generation mobile communication system providing various multimedia services around the year 2000. The considered IMT-2000 network uses signaling system No.7 for call control and mobility management.
In this thesis, IMT-2000 network architecture is introduced according to Q.FNA specifications and a signaling network simulator based on signaling system No.7 is developed by considering the information flows of IMT-2000 network.
The signaling network simulator can evaluate the performance of IMT-2000 networks in terms of end-to-end call setup delay and terminal location registration delay. The result can be utilized in planning various IMT-2000 networks.
