In this thesis, we propose a multichannel ATM switch architecture consisting of a copy network and a routing network and also propose a contention resolution scheme without requring any sorting stages.
We can provide the cell split copy. Also We can significantly reduce the hardware complexity of the proposed architecture without requiring sorting stages, compared with that of Min's architecture. We can maintain the cell sequence integrity in multichannel application. With output buffering and speed-up schemes, we can more tightly control the cell loss probability.
