Recently, remote sensing is receiving considerable attention as an efficient method for inspecting atmosphere and surface of land and ocean of the earth. For remote sensing using satellites, both the development of high performance satellites containing high resolution camera and the design and implementation of remotely sensed image processing systems which can process efficiently the images received from the satellites are necessary. Because of the reason that most previous systems are letting users perform image processing through general graphic user interfaces, much of time and efforts of experts are required for remotely sensed image processing.
In this thesis, we are trying to adopt Visual Programming Language for remotely sensed image processing. Specifically, we use Large-Grain Data Flow Model as system language model, and UIS (User Interface Specification) design method for user interface design. With this remotely sensed image processing system supporting visual programming environment, users are supported powerful linguistic facilities and the ease of comprehension for programming which are broadly consented advantages of visual programming language. The system is implemented on UNIX based X/Motif environment.
