A prototype of visco-hydraulic engine mount(VHEM) is developed based on a stand-alone hydraulic engine mount, which has been modified to retain the structure of viscous mount. The developed hybrid mount is modeled to account for small and large amplitude vibrations and then the validity of the model is effectively tested by varying the design variables. Using the verified models, the effect of the design variables on the dynamic characteristics of the developed mount is extensively simulated to investigate the guidelines for optimal design of the mount. It is shown that the mount can achieve high damping for large amplitude vibration as well as low stiffness for small amplitude vibration.
