The simulations of ABS using one-wheel-vehicle model were conducted to investigate the influence of deformation of tire compared to simulations without consideration of tire deformation.
In this study the change of slip ratio is examined to show the effect of tire deformation by considering two-type deformation of tire. One is the rotational deformation, and the other is the deformation of contact patch. Thus the slip ratio during braking is calculated considering the rotational deformation of the tire. The rotational stiffness is measured by experiments.
The result of the simulation of ABS considering the deformation of tire is that the frequency of the actuator for the control of ABS can be slowed down by about 20% for the case of the subcompact passenger car tested.
