The explosion in number of hosts being connected to the Internet is accelerating the trend towards business use of networks for conducting electronic commerce. This paper introduces an approach to understanding the possible impacts of electronic commerce using an analysis of 50 Korean web sites on the Internet.
It employs the transaction cost theory and Porter's competitiveness model to evaluate the business values which is taking place on the web. Especially, the effect of electronic commerce on the supply chain is investigated in this thesis.
An approach to the implementation of electronic commerce for the changing business environment is also presented. Finally, several barriers and issues that may mitigate against the illusion of electronic commerce are discussed.
