Many environmental problems have been raised in the global village due to "growth first policy" of industry in recent decades. It has become main issues these days. Accordingly, mankind had to be agreed "Environmentally Sound and Sustainable Development(ESSD) as new global economic paradigm of the 21C for the future. Because of that, many companies should recognize and adapt Environmental Management to the business for their future survival.
On this background, introduction, adaptation strategy and adaptation situation of environmental management in operation site of company are studied. Consequently, we assess implementation and achievement level of the specific construction company(A Co.)'s environmental management by Environmental Self-Assessment Program(ESAP), are assessed to find out several factors of environmental management to carry out the advanced environmental management of A Co.
Main points of this study are the following: first, environmentalism background and surrounding business environment change of company, in addition to the concept of environmental management, second, finding out several characteristics of A group and A Co.'s environmental management, third, understanding of ESAP, fourth, implementing situation analysis of A Co.'s environmental management and suggestion of several factors to pursue the advanced environmental management of A Co.
The results of execution of ESAP for A Co. are following: first, achievement level of environmental management is LEVEL 2 of development and implementation stage in Environmental Management Systems(EMS), second, improvement fields of environmental management priorities from now on are found as establishment of Employee Education System, enforcement of Corporate Priority, Prior Assessment of construction business, system integration of Contractors & Suppliers.
