The strategy of production technology contributes to the firm through cost down process, achieving high and stable quality, allowing new products to the market before competitors. By acquiring advanced production technology, Japanese firms like Matsushita, Sony, Hitachi, and Toshiba have become the biggest electronics firms in the world through mass-production. This thesis tries to find some lessons for acquiring advanced production technology through case study of Matsushita Electric Industrial Company. The analysis framework consists of firm strategy, R&D activities, top executive involvement, level of factory automation, acquiry of key production technologies and parts production technology. In this thesis, attempt is made to identify the critical success factors of strategy of production technology in Matsushita Electric Industrial Company.

② Matsushita Electric Industrial Company has developed powerful in-house production technology step by step.
③ Matsushita Electric Industrial Company has achieved in-house parts supplier system for the production tedhnology.
④ Matsushita Electric Industrial Company has achieved hierachical FA system.
⑤ Matsushita Electric Industrial Company has acquired key techlogies for automated manufacturing facilities.
⑥ Top executive has involved in making production technology personnel relatively more utilized.
⑦ Matsushita Electric Industrial Company has prepared systems to encourage embodying production technology and sharing information.
