The firm is faced with global competitive environment based on management activities such as research and development, production, marketing, service. This thesis is to identify business behavior along with evolutionary globalization in order to explain the dynamic characteristics of global process in korean electronic industry. The purpose of this thesis primarily focused on answers and alternatives for three questions as follows:
1) What are influence factors in the process of globalization and how can they be classified according to a viewpoint of management activities?
2) what are the relationships between influence factors and management activities? And can they be divided into three dimensions in accordance with strategic dimension, structural dimension and geometric dimension related to globalization?
3) Is it possible to group businesses in electronic industry, although they may be different from characteristics of business and result of performance through analysis of the process of globalization?
This thesis analyzes three case businesses of one large diversified firm, which is eager to penetrate in consumer appliances, telecommunications, mini computer and networking businesses with different characteristics in global viewpoints. It is a known fact that there is no global standard for electronic industry. But it is necessary to globalize for firm's long_term survival and growth. There could be many reasons for a firm to globalize, but the most important factors are decision makings of management, products, markets. This thesis suggests a research model of global analysis framework and global formulation including integration of global influence factors, appraisal and performance.
This is an exploratory study on the dynamic change of business behavior along with evolutionary globalization in korean electronic industry. This thesis contributes in the study of globalization process of korean electronic industry by finding out patterns and factors of a means to globalization. And it provides some useful suggestions to the firms in the real situations such as change in the management activities by considering competitive environment and technological capability.
But this thesis has also several shortcomings and requires in-depth and comparative researches in the later time. This study is about one large corporation, the causal relationship could not be explained explicitly. It is necessary to replicate this study in other fields and firms of korean electronic industry.
