In this paper, we consider the two kinds of methods that are ATM Forum's LAN Emulation and ETSI's CBDS. Then, the characteristics and structures of two methods are investigated. Also, LAN Emulation system is modelled as distributed network, and CBDS system is modelled as centralized network. In this simulation, we choose the two measure factors such as average delay and throughput for data traffic manipulaton process in accordance with the input traffic load variation. According to the simulation results, it is clearly shown that the average delay difference in two methods is larger as the bulk size of input traffic increases. Also, in the case of unlimitted traffic buffer throughput of LANE for data traffic is better than that of CBDS at high input traffic load, but in the case of limitted traffic buffer size, throughput is largely dependent upon the buffer and bulk size. Moreover, we can see that distributed network configuration is more suitable to the input traffic parameter variation. Besides, in the case of address confimation process, it is seen that average delay of LANE is smaller than of CBDS because of multiple server.
Finally, we can see that LAN Emulation is better than the CBDS in view of average delay and throughput for bulky data traffic.
