A heterogeneous distributed database management system (HDDBMS) is an upper-level database engine that is placed on top of a number of local database engines. Each local database management systems (LDBMS) in HDDBMS has access control on its data independently. Many works have been done to overcome heterogeneousness among the transaction management method in HDDBMS. Some of previous transaction management methods failed to resolve indirect conflict because they consider only global transactions when they maintain a global serializability. Others require high costs in order to resolve the indirect conflicts. This paper proposes a new transaction management method in HDDBMS which can resolve indirect conflict. Performance analysis has been made by comparing to optimistic ticket method(OTM). Generally, new method has showed higher performance than the OTM. First of all, new method presented low transaction processing time and high degree of throughput though it has little differences at abort ratio and restart ratio between the two.
