The design problems are become more complex and the design problem's area is becomes more large, so the importance of 'Goal oriented design process' is increasing in recent years. The Design process normally begins with developing a statement or definition of the problem. An essential part of any problem statements is the goal that one wants to achieve. Goals are broad statements of intent, that have to be elaborated into more specific objectives, to be useful for decision making in design. A design specification is a list of normative statements about the properties a new product should have, which sets limits to the solution space, and indicates which solutions are the preferred ones. A design specification does not specify the solution to a design problem. It provides the designer with the criteria by which the 'value' or 'quality' of the outcomes of designing is to be judged. There are many objectives that are dependent on the product form in design specification, but the study to specifying form of the product besides its functional aspects, and the information of existing design specification is insufficient to form development process. This thesis is purposed for the designers to develop a systematic process of form specification methods. Form specification methods proposed in this study are composed of specifying procedure subdivided into five stages: stage one, transform design objectives about product form into image keywords. Stage two, analyze the hierarchical structure of the physical product form. Stage three, decide on the scope and the level of form specifications. Stage four, establish intermediate variables of form. Stage five, realize form specifications by making out 'Representative Element Matrix' and 'Visual Implication'. It is summarized that the significance of form specification methods is these. By specifying objectives which the product form has to accomplish, designers can participate to the initial stage of product development process. Form specifications contribute to form development process by offering guideline of form generation and standards of evaluation which practiced in each phase of form development process.
