This paper describes possibility of new control technology for a spindle motor in CD-ROM DRIVE employing Adaptive Model Following controller based on Lyapunov' direct method. In CD-ROM DRIVE, signal jitters arising from spindle motor speed fluctuation are obstacle to future high quality play. For Constant Linear Velocity rotation, variable spindle motor speed is required in accordance with pick-up position. For reducing speed fluctuation, proper model system is introduced. First, required velocity profile. This system is controlled by a feedback signal that is generated by the adaptive model following controller. System stability is guaranteed by Lyapunov' direct method. Simulation results is showed compared with conventional PLL servo loop.
