Industry need to share manufacturing data among functional groups of the enterprise and among its suppliers and partners. Data needs to be shared among different hardware platforms, different data storage paradigms and system, and a variety of network architectures. A standard specification for manufacturing data is needed that can support the entire product development and support life-cycle. This thesis proposes an information system for sharing product data throughout its life-cycle. It describes how the process of design can be integrated with geometric data based on AP203 of STEP standards using SDAI (Standard Data Access Interface) and Object-Oriented Tcl/Tk. The prototype information system has functions to modify STEP data, to display information, and to display BOM using the browser-Netscape.
