Alignment mechanism of nematic liquid crystal(LC) molecules was studied by measuring the effect of annealing temperature and time variation of the alignment layer. We also observed the effect of processing order on the LC molecular orientation by switching the order of annealing and rubbing. It is found that the annealing process followed by rubbing decreases the pretilt property and stability of molecular alignment depending on the temperature and duration of annealing.
