It is very important subject to embody consumers' needs to product form in the design development processes. Especially on these processes, a shape is important factor in emboding the consumer's needs.
Conjoint analysis is a useful methods for emboding the consumers' needs. Because it finds out preference factor and offers output with visual data. The output of conjoint analysis depends on selecting method of attributes. So, It is needed to develop selecting method of shape attributes with emphasis on an application of conjoint analysis to embody consumers' needs of product form.
This study sets a objective to develop the selecting method of shape attributes. For solution of such a subject, it was developed to mathods selecting the major shape-elements and constitution-element. At first, major shape-elements is developed by the theory of determinance and characteristics of designer's form development process. Next, constitution-elements was developed by characteristics of human's form perception and principles of design(Form).
Through this research, it was developed to selecting methods of shape attributes with determinal line of shape in major shape-elements. The result through this methods is detailed data which is able to use form development process. So consumer's needs are embodied through application on this method.
The merits of this method are as follows.
ㆍThis method can reduce the noizes of coming to interpret by designers.
ㆍThrough this method, consumers' needs and designers' creativities are reflected to product form correctly.
ㆍDesigner can apply these data usefully in form development process, for the result of analysis producees these detailed data.
