This paper performs a numerical analysis to investigate the heat transfer and fluid flow behavior in a 2-D channel flow with streamwise-periodic ribs mounted on one of the principal walls. The nonlinear and standard κ-ε turbulence models with hybrid scheme and SIMPLE Algorithm were applied to solving the accelerating, separated and recirculating flows. Both models have been performed poorly in the separated region just behind the ribs where the Reynolds stress were grossly underpredicted. The local Nusselt were underpredicted by both models. The nonlinear model predicted more realistic Reynolds stresses in the core flow region immediately above the ribs than the standard κ-ε model.
